The Fitwins Virtual Cycling Challenge is Back.

Are you looking for a fun and challenging way to get fit? or give your passion for cycling a novel twist? If so, the Fitwins Virtual Cycling Challenge is absolutely for you.

This 2-month challenge takes you on a virtual tour of Great Britain. From the bustling streets of London to the rolling hills of Wales. Along the way, you’ll have the chance to see some of the country’s most iconic cities and landmarks. These include London, Oxford, and York.

The Fitwins Virtual Cycling Challenge is more than just a sightseeing tour along the mean streets of Google Streetview. It’s got many fantastic benefits, both mentally and physically.

Get fit and motivated

The Fitwins Virtual Cycling Challenge is a great way to get fit and motivated. With each ride, you’ll be working towards your goal of completing the various distances of the challenge. With each distance you power through, you’ll be guaranteed to eyeball the next checkpoint on the challenge with an eye on the calendar to see how long you have left to reach it.

See the world

The Fitwins Virtual Cycling Challenge takes you on a virtual tour of Great Britain during May and June, with planned challenges around France and Italy in the pipeline. As you ride, you’ll get to see some of the country’s most iconic landmarks within the integrated Google Streetview mapping system. Just drop the Peg Man down on your progress and explore the area you’ve stopped off at.

Connect with other cyclists, runners and hikers

The Fitwins Virtual Cycling Challenge is a great way to connect with other cyclists from around the world, as well as the participants of our established walking and running challenges. In our Fitwins Community social media groups, you can share your progress, tips, and motivation with others, and build a real community of support from your fellow challengers.

Earn exclusive prizes

The Fitwins Virtual Cycling Challenge offers exclusive prizes for participants who complete the premium entry edition of the challenge. When you sign up for the medal entry challenge, you’ll receive a reward pack including goodies from our partnered brands, a certificate of achievement, and a premium quality, heavyweight medal to keep as a memento of your experience.

How the Fitwins Virtual Cycling Challenge Works

The Fitwins Virtual Cycling Challenge is easy to join. Simply download the Fitwins app and register for an account, if you don’t already have one. Within the app, you will be presented with Running or Cycling challenges. Simply select Cycling and find the next (or current) available challenge.

You can register to participate in the free version, which gives you access to the global leaderboard and full virtual tour access. Alternatively, you can upgrade to the medal entry, which gives you additional benefits such as the ability to create private groups with friends to build your own challenge-within-a-challenge, and of course that premium reward pack once you finish the challenge.

You will link your Strava app, which will track your distance covered by GPS, or you can manually input your distances into the Fitwins app. This will in turn add it to your tally and push you around the virtual map of the challenge.

Each virtual cycling challenge is broken into different distance milestones, starting at 50km for the entry level challenge. However, there are a variety of additional targets and exclusive distance ribbons for 100km, 200km, 500km, 1000km, 2000km and a massive 3000km.

Once you hit the first distance, you can choose to tap out and leave it there or take on the next available distance. Your decision will depend on how much time of the challenge remains, and your confidence in achieving the next milestone.

Do I need a bike to complete a virtual cycling challenge?

Cycle in the Gym

Having a bike would of course be massively beneficial to your ability to completing the Fitwins virtual cycling challenge. However, it can 100% be taken on in the gym on a cycling machine. After all, not everybody owns a cycle, or is confident with getting out on the open road. If you have a gym membership, then simply track the distances you cover and add them to the Fitwins or Strava app.

How many kilometres per day do I need to cover to hit my virtual cycling challenge?

It’s really not that much at all that you need to hit, which is part of what makes the Fitwins virtual fitness challenges so great.

Let’s do some quick example maths. There are 61 days in May and June.

  • To hit the 100km target, you would simply need to cycle for 1.6km (1 mile) per day.
  • To hit the 500km target, you’d need to cycle 8.2km (about 5 miles) per day.
  • To hit 3000km, you’ll need to hit almost 50km per day. Now that, is a challenge. Can you smash it? Of course you can!

Whether you’re an avid cyclist who smashes 200km over a weekend with your local cycling club, or you’re a lapsed cyclist looking for a way to motivate yourself to get back on it, the Fitwins Virtual Cycling Challenge is the perfect way to get that motivation, get fit, meet new people and earn yourself some amazing rewards.

Simply down the app via the links below. Once registered, simply connect your Strava, get on your bike, and pedal your ay to personal glory. Fitwins can take you anywhere.

FAQ

Not sure how virtual fitness works?

The easiest way to learn is to try Fitwins for yourself! The app is free to download, and you only pay for challenges you take part in, so why not take it for a test drive?

In the meantime, here are the answers to some of our most frequently asked questions about how Fitwins compares to other virtual walking challenges.

No! We believe that flexibility is the key to fitness success, so instead of forcing you to complete a set distance, we let you set your own goal.  This means you can be flexible in how you complete YOUR challenge: so if you are smashing your target, you can raise the bar and aim for more.

All entries into our challenge will receive a great medal, with a ribbon specific to the challenge type.

For our “iconic challenges”, your ribbon will have a unique design related to the challenge. For our regular monthly challenges, your ribbon will reflect the total distance you covered.

Running and walking ribbons are awarded based on 25, 50, 75, 100, 125, 150, 175 and 200+ miles. Cycling ribbons are for distances of 50km, 100km, 200km, 500km, 1000km, 2000km and 3000km.

Absolutely! Not only that, but all the distance you’ve covered since the start of the month will count, as the Fitwins App syncs with Strava and logs all activities from the start of the month, regardless of what date you sign up for the challenge.

If you are hitting the streets with your app activated, verification is completed automatically by sycning with Strava. You can focus on completing your challenge, and we’ll take care of the rest.

If you’re using a treadmill, exercycle or other stationary equipment for some of your challenge, you’ll need to log this manually.
