Are you looking for a new and exciting way to stay motivated and reach your fitness goals? Something out of the ordinary with real rewards? Virtual running challenges may be just what you need. These challenges allow you to compete with others and push yourself to the limit, or join a group of likeminded people from all over the world to encourage and celebrate your collective success. In this blog post, we will explore the benefits of virtual running challenges like the ones on offer via the Fitwins app, how it all works, and how you can use them to boost your motivation and fitness goals.

What are Virtual Fitness Challenges?

Virtual running challenges are online activities that allow you to participate in a distance-challenge from anywhere in the world. They typically involve running or walking a certain distance within a given timeframe, for example the Fitwins virtual running challenges give you a variety of options from 25 miles up to more than 200 miles. Participants track their progress using a fitness tracker or app such as Strava, which is connected to the Fitwins app that gives you real progress around famous cities and landmarks, such as Rome, Rio De Janeiro, or even Lapland.

These challenges offer a way for people to stay active and motivated, even when they can’t participate in traditional races or group fitness classes. The great thing is that you don’t need to sprint to the end to achieve your goals. Some people use the Fitwins app to track their walking achievements. Remember, slow and steady wins the race!

There are many benefits to participating in virtual running challenges. For one, they offer a way to stay motivated and accountable. When you sign up for a Fitwins virtual running challenge, you are committing to a goal, which can help you stay focused and on track with your fitness routine.

Virtual running challenges also offer a way to compete with others, even if you can’t participate in traditional races. This can be especially motivating for people who are competitive or who thrive on social interaction. Virtual running challenges also allow you to connect with a community of like-minded individuals who share your passion for fitness and wellness. Our Fitwins Community Group on Facebook is full of individuals who help to drive their friends on to achieve great things together.

Another benefit of virtual running challenges is that they are flexible and convenient. You can participate from anywhere in the world, at any time of day, and at your own pace. This makes it easy to fit exercise into your busy schedule and to stay active even when you are traveling or unable to leave your home.

By committing to a challenge, you are setting a goal for yourself and creating a sense of personal accountability. This can help you stay focused and on track with your exercise routine, even when you are feeling tired or unmotivated. It can be easy to press the snooze button and give it up until tomorrow, but knowing that another mile or

Virtual running challenges can also help you push yourself to the limit. When you are competing against others, you may be more likely to push yourself harder and to strive for better results. This can lead to improved fitness and better overall health.

Another way that virtual running challenges can boost motivation is by offering a sense of community and support. When you participate in a virtual running challenge, you are part of a group of like-minded individuals who share your passion for fitness and wellness. This can be a source of encouragement and motivation, especially when you are feeling discouraged or unmotivated.

Virtual Challenges for Treadmill Users

If you prefer to run on a treadmill, you can still participate in virtual running challenges. Simply join and register for the challenge, then manually input your covered miles to tally them up toward your target.

When participating in a virtual running challenge on a treadmill, it is important to make sure that you are using the correct settings and incline to simulate outdoor running conditions. You may also want to consider adding some variety to your workout by adjusting the speed and incline throughout your workout.

Go at your own pace

Virtual walking challenges are another popular option for people who want to stay active and motivated. These challenges typically involve walking a certain number of steps or completing a certain distance within a given timeframe. Participants can track their progress using a fitness tracker or app, and their results are typically posted online for others to see.

Virtual walking challenges can be a great way to improve your overall health and wellness. Walking is a low-impact exercise that is easy on the joints, making it a great option for people of all ages and fitness levels. Walking can also help improve cardiovascular health, strengthen muscles, and improve overall mobility.

Tips for Participating in Virtual Fitness Challenges

Take the challenge at your own pace

If you are thinking about participating in a virtual running challenge, there are a few things to keep in mind. First, make sure that you set a realistic goal for yourself. Choose a distance or step count that is challenging but achievable, and plan for how you will reach your goal.

Second, make sure that you have the right equipment and tools to track your progress. This may include a smart watch, mobile phone and the Strava app. You will also want to invest in a good pair of running or walking shoes and other gear that will help you stay comfortable and safe while you are undertaking the challenge.

Why not find a walking or running buddy to keep each other motivated? It doesn’t have to be a contest (unless you’re the competitive type!); encourage one another to push on and get those miles added to your tally. Celebrate your individual wins together. Join a virtual running group- the Fitwins Community Facebook Group, for example -to support and encourage others, and you may even find yourself making new friends from across the globe.

Also Consider..

You may also want to set up a reward system for yourself to help you stay motivated and on track with your goals. For every 5 miles that you hit, treat yourself to something small. It doesn’t need to be huge, but something that will give you a mood booster.

Essentially, it can be easy to fall away from regularly attending the gym, or getting your running shoes on, especially if you’re doing it alone. Joining the Fitwins virtual challenge and combining that with joining a social media group of other likeminded people, will give you a sense of community, encouragement and achievement. Virtual Running Challenges are a great way to keep fit, whilst focusing on an end goal that can include earning a high-quality, exclusively created medal, a certificate of achievement, and other great goodies.

The Fitwins virtual challenge app is completely free to download on Google Play Store and Apple App Store, and all challenges are available to participate for free. When you hit your first milestone, then if you want to, you can upgrade to Medal Entry to claim your superb medal. If not, then at least you have the sense of achievement that can drive you to take on the next challenge, and the next, and before you know it, you’ve clocked up hundreds of miles.

Not sure how virtual fitness works?

The easiest way to learn is to try Fitwins for yourself! The app is free to download, and you only pay for challenges you take part in, so why not take it for a test drive?

In the meantime, here are the answers to some of our most frequently asked questions about how Fitwins compares to other virtual walking challenges.

No! We believe that flexibility is the key to fitness success, so instead of forcing you to complete a set distance, we let you set your own goal.  This means you can be flexible in how you complete YOUR challenge: so if you are smashing your target, you can raise the bar and aim for more.

All entries into our challenge will receive a great medal, with a ribbon specific to the challenge type.

For our “iconic challenges”, your ribbon will have a unique design related to the challenge. For our regular monthly challenges, your ribbon will reflect the total distance you covered.

Running and walking ribbons are awarded based on 25, 50, 75, 100, 125, 150, 175 and 200+ miles. Cycling ribbons are for distances of 50km, 100km, 200km, 500km, 1000km, 2000km and 3000km.

Absolutely! Not only that, but all the distance you’ve covered since the start of the month will count, as the Fitwins App syncs with Strava and logs all activities from the start of the month, regardless of what date you sign up for the challenge.

If you are hitting the streets with your app activated, verification is completed automatically by sycning with Strava. You can focus on completing your challenge, and we’ll take care of the rest.

If you’re using a treadmill, exercycle or other stationary equipment for some of your challenge, you’ll need to log this manually.
